My photo-based practice comes from a place of wonder and discovery, constantly examining and hoping to share my fascination with the everyday world. Common themes include the natural world, minimalism and a desire to share my appreciation of living fully in the present.
Every photograph I make starts with seeing and being completely present with my surroundings. I’m always looking for that subtle quality, the kind that’s hard to define but impossible to ignore. Over the years, I’ve developed my own style that feels natural to me. Photography isn’t just about capturing an image—it’s a way of being completely present.
I travel and bushwack through the forest to find unusual settings and intimate surroundings. This allows me to think, to get focus on the process. Some of my favorite images hang as large prints in my home, reminders of places and moments that felt significant.
Sometimes getting images is a task. Organizing taking photos around high tides (and low tides) weather and terrain. The actual photo taking is the easy part. Pulling the photos together for a series rather than a one-of photo can take years.
Each time I take a photo I seem to evolve as well. I am not standing still and taking the same photo after photo. I continue to pursue new adventures and grow into a creative story-teller.
In my body of work I explore the conflict between the natural and suburban environments. I want to show people what’s happening to their immediate world.
With a blend of formal education and hands-on experience, my photographic journey has been a winding road developing my creativity and capturing the essence of diverse subjects. Whether it’s a serene landscape, an intimate portrait, or the dynamic energy of an event, my journey allows me to showcase my ability to tell a story with compelling imagery.
